Errementari
Name: Errementari
Directed By: Paul Urkijo
Subgenre: Period Piece, Supernatural, Fantasy, Foreign
Series: Spooktober 2018 entry #19
Review: This Basque language (spoken in Spain--there's your fun fact for the day, assuming you're as ignorant as me) period piece about the Devil and the Blacksmith: the Blacksmith is so cruel, so evil that even the Devil would come to fear and respect him. It's atmospheric but not moody, but goes a bit CGI heavy in the final act--that said, it does have some fun monster designs and makeup. Errementari isn't a particularly scary movie, but it is a dark re-telling of the Faust story from a culture you're likely unfamiliar with. If you can set your expectations for a grim fairy tale rather than a stereotypical horror movie, then you'll likely have a decent time.
Overall Score: 3.5 out of 5 Chads forced to count spilled chickpeas. Did Errementari scare you? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
