Review: This is going to be a bit of a weird one. In the film, we almost voyeuristically follow a young schoolgirl, Mitsuko, who survives a brutal massacre by an unseen force, then finds herself walking a progressively more bizarre path between worlds she doesn't recognize as her own. The intro is compelling enough to get your attention, and the increasingly bizarre events after it will make you want to finish the film, even if you have no idea what's going on. The pacing is equal parts familiar and off-putting and punctuated by unflinching ultra-violence, yet it's final act wraps up everything nice and proper with a poignantly-provocative bow on top. All in all, even if it's not everyone's horrific cup of team, the blood-spatter-covered mystery of it all will likely keep you intrigued enough to keep watching. You're likely not going to find another film quite like Tag, and I find that to be a good thing around these parts.
Overall Score: 4 out of 5 Chads suffering an existential crisis. Did Tag scare you? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
