Review: Tales of Halloween, as you can imagine, is an anthology of horror stories specifically aiming to capture the Halloween spirit. In these Halloween tales, you'll find stories of pranks backfiring, psychopaths stalking trick-or-treaters, a modern retelling of Hansel and Gretel, a very hungry pumpkin, and many more. It's a mixed bag ranging from unremarkable to fairly unique stories that don't take themselves too seriously, which helps because the writing and plots are silly at best. All in all, the overall film is perfectly passable but forgettable anthology (seriously, I realized midway through that I'd already watched it at least once before). You can make a good Halloween watching this along with Trick R' Treat, a vastly superior Halloween anthology.
Personal favorite story of the bunch: Sweet Tooth, directed by Dave Parker, which happens to be the first entry among the lot (for better or worse).
Overall Score: 2.5 out of 5 Chads not planning on touching Halloween candy for a while--at least half an hour or so. Did Tales of Halloween scare you? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
